HI POWER CLINIC AT CAPITAN

On April 26, 2008, there will be a Hi Power Rifle clinic at the Capitan, NM rifle range. Cost will be $25.00. Juniors will be $10.00. On Sunday the 27th, we will talk about 4 man team shooting and shoot a 50 shot team match. We will start at 08:30 each day.

Instruction will cover all four stages of a hi power rifle match. There will be verbal instruction in the positions, philosophies concerning the position and stage being fired and any other pertinent information we can think of. This will be followed by practice shooting in the position covered. We would love to have some input from shooters as to what they would like covered. If there is anything you would like to talk about, just let us know.

Instructors will be:

Ron Zerr, high master, distinguished. Ron has placed in the top 10 at Nationals the last several years, and is a member of the record setting "Team Creedmoor". Ron was 3nrdat nationals this past year. Ron has shot a number of disciplines, having started his shooting with smallbore, where he shot collegiantly with NCAA team wins. Although he still shoots smallbore when available, he has also shot and won national titles with a Muzzleloader. Because of this experience, Ron is well founded in positions and probably holds better than anyone that I know. Around here, he is known for being able to shoot well offhand.

Adrian Morley, high master, distinguished, and winner if the National Individual Trophy Match at Camp Perry at the 1988 national championships. Retired as a Lt. Colonel from the Army Reserve. Knows more about shooting a service rifle than anyone I know.

Bringing up the rear, so to speak, will be me. High Master, distinguished and I used to have good eyesight. I will fill in the blanks and talk about rifle accuracy and doping the wind. Some will say I am not the right dope. We ignore them.

What to Expect:

This will be a long day. Bring your own snacks and drinks. Camping is allowed at the range, we have neither water nor electricity. Camping at its best!!! Bring plenty of ammo. We will cook some hamburgers etc, after the clinic on Saturday, fire danger permitting, no charge.

SPECIAL NOTE :

Due to the ammo crunch, 223 is hard to get, but we will have some to pass out for the juniors. Just not sure how much yet.
