LOCATION: The range is located 3 miles east of Capitan on the north side of hiway 380.

RULES: Current NRA High Power Rules will apply.

COMPETITION OPEN TO: Any individual NRA member. Junior competitors may be individual members of an NRA Affiliated Club in lieu of individual NRA membership. No adult non-NRA members may compete in this tournament.

REGISTRATION FEES: All competitors must pay with NRA Award Points, check or cash. Make checks payable to: Capitan Hi Power Shooting Club, Inc.

          $25.00 600 YARD MATCHES

SATURDAY     $45.00 INDIVIDUAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

SUNDAY     $15.00 LEG MATCH

         $10.00 FUN MATCH

JUNIOR FEES     one half of above amounts

LATE ENTRIES     May be accepted up to limit of range capacity.

INDIVIDUAL ENTRIES:    Entries in individual events will be made by using the (printable) enclosed entry form, accompanied by a check or money order for the full amount of the entry desired. Entry form must be filled out COMPLETELY AND SIGNED. Mail entries to:

TEAM ENTRIES:     Team entries are subject to rules 2.10 to 2.20 and will be accepted the day of the match.

STAT OFFICE OPENS AT 0700.

SQUADDING:    All matches will be squadded. Squadding for individual matches will be issued from the Stat Office to competitors who check in at the Stat Office. No squadding will be issued on the firing line. A competitor who fails to obtain his squadding, or who fails to be at the proper firing point when his relay is called may lose his privilege to compete in that event.

TEAM SQUADDING:     Announced on the range. One team member will go to the pits and pull a target assigned to him by the pit officer.

COMPETITORS WILL PULL TARGETS AND SCORE

INDENTIFICATION:     NRA membership card and classification cards must be shown before any squadding will be issued.

CLASSIFICATION:     The NRA classification will be used in all matches. Unclassified competitors will compete in the Master Class. Rule 19.6 (assigned classification) or 19.2 (temporary classification).

RIFLES AND SIGHTS:     Service Rifle (3.1, 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3), Match Rifle (3.3, 3.3.1, 3.3.3) and Any Sight Match Rifle (3.3.4)). For the 600 yard matches, Service rifle (3.1, 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3) and Match rifle (3.3, 3.3.1, 3.3.3), iron sights and any sights.

TARGETS:     200 yds. SR; 300 yds., SR-3; 600 yds., MR-1.

CATAGORIES AND CLASSES FOR AWARDS:     There will be class and category awards. Service rifle and match rifle will be separated if there are 4 of each in a class.

AWARD DISPOSITION:     The awards will be cash and trophy. There must be 4 or more entries in a class for 1 award, 8 or more for 2 awards etc. Team Match: one award for every 4 teams. There will be an award given for State Hi Power Champion, State Service Rifle Champion and High Resident.

CAMPING AND HOUSING:     Camping is OK on the Capitan Range. No water is available at this time. The following motel is available in Capitan: Smokey Bear Motel, 505 354-2253. Other lodging is available throughout Lincoln Country. On the web: www.ruidoso.net

MATCH 1:     2 Sighting shots and 20 shots for record, standing, slow fire, 200 yds. Rule 5.12

MATCH 2: 2 Sighting shots and 20 shots for record, sitting or kneeling from standing, rapid fire, 200 yds. Rule 5.8 or 5.10. CONTRARY TO RULE 11.76 (b), EACH RELAY WILL FIRE MATCH 2 IMMEDIATLEY FOLLOWING MATCH 1. PREPARTATION TIME FOR SITTING RAPID WILL BEGIN 3 MINUTES AFTER COMPLETION OF THAT RELAY’S STANDING.

MATCH 3:     2 Sighting shots and 20 shots for record prone from standing, rapid fire, 300 yds. Rule 5.6

MATCH 4:     2 Sighting shots and 20 shots for record, prone, slow fire, 600 yds. Rule 5.6.

MATCH 5:     State Championship: Aggregate of scores fired in matches 1, 2, 3 & 4.

 

SERVICE RIFLE LEG MATCH & CONCURRENT FUN MATCH

It is not necessary to enter the NRA matches to fire in this event. The Leg Match and Fun Match will be run concurrently. The fun match is for match rifle shooters that wish to shoot the leg match with no sighters.

  1. OPEN TO:     Any citizen of the United States, 16 years of age or older.
  2. RULES:     CMP Competition Rules, 10ty Edition
  3. ENTRY LIMITS:     Range capacity
  4. ENTRIES:     To compete the OFFICIAL CMP Entry and Score Card must be obtained from the Range Officer Sunday morning.
  5. ENTRY FEES:     $15.00 paid by the individual (including military personnel)
  6. AUTHORIZED ARMS:     Service Rifle as prescribed for use in the Leg Match at the National Matches
  7. Fun Match:     Service Rifle and NRA Match Rifle (3.3, 3.3.1) or Any Sight Match Rifle (3.3.4)

  8. AMMUNITION:     Any safe ammunition. No flat base bullets may be used at 600 yds.
  9. COURSE OF FIRE:     NATIONAL MATCH COURSE: 50 shots, no sighters
  10. STAGE 1 AND 2 WILL BE FIRED BEFORE A RELAY LEAVES THE LINE

    Stage 1:     Slow fire, 10 shots standing, 200 yds. in 10 min. The sling must be attached to the rifle in the parade position, and it cannot be used for support.

    Stage 2:     Rapid fire, 10 shots, sitting or kneeling from standing, in 60 seconds.

    Stage 3:     Rapid fire, 10 shots, prone from standing, in 70 seconds

    Stage 4:     Slow fire, 20 shots, prone in 20 minutes

  11. AWARDS:     Credit toward Distinguished designation and appropriate Excellence in Competition badges as provided in AR 622-10 and AR 672-5-1. Awards for the Fun Match will be given without regard to NRA classification or rifle type.

 

SPECIAL NOTE: You must send us a notarized copy of the CMP’s "Eligibility Affidavit and Liability Agreement" in order to compete in the leg match. We must have a copy (it can be photo copied from the original) every time you shoot a CMP match. Although CMP requires just one affidavit per lifetime, there is no practical means for us to know, at the match site, that the shooter has submitted an affidavit to us or to some other organization before today’s match.
