RIGHT ON TARGET
We started our shooting season on Saturday the 20th in Roswell. It turned out to be a great day to shoot. There was a good turnout for the first match of the year and those that chose not to come missed a very nice day to shoot. Jerry King files this report.
SOUTHEASTERN NM HI POWER RIFLE LEAGUE, FEBRUARY 20, 2010
By Jerry King
When I arrived at the range at 6:50 A.M.,
it was a very chilly beautiful morning. Shooters started showing up after 7:00
A.M. We got the targets and everything
set up and then I started signing everybody up.
We had a
good turn out. We had 12
shooters, 11 adults and 1junior, but it was better than I had hoped for, for
this first match. We finish around 12:45 PM.
The weather was very chilly at first, but
when we got started around 9 A. M. , it turned into a very nice morning for
shooting and there was a breeze with
about an 8 to 10 mph wind back at the 600 yard line.

The combination to the gate will get changed on March 1st or 2nd. Whenever I can get out there and change it. If you have renewed your membership for 2010, you should have been given the new combination. If not, contact myself or Dan Egan. I am also going to move the sign in book to the hot range flag can at the gate. It will be under the hot range flag.
Every year, I try and help club members by using my ffl to obtain the best price possible on powder and primers. We will try again this year. Of course I think everyone is aware of what has been going on with these items and while there are some reports of things getting better, I am not necessarily finding that to be true. Powder is hit and miss, it comes and goes, but primers are still pretty tough. Please be advised that if you want a certain brand of primer, of course we all do, that it may not be available and if a substitute will work, please put that down when you contact me. I have been able to get Wolf primers with fair consistency and while I don’t care for Wolf ammo, their primers are performing very well. That’s what Ron Zerr and David Tubb are using and you know they won’t use a substandard product. So let me know via email please, what you would like. Prices depend on how much we can order to spread out the freight and hazmat and of course what is available. But I am going to guess that and 8# jug of powder will be in the $150.00 range and a case of primers in the $130.00 range. And those prices are just that, a guess.

I would like to say that I guess all my bitching about keeping the
range clean and looking nice, may be soaking in! Driving around the range a few days ago,
things looked real nice and I appreciate the efforts of our members to keep
things clean. Thanks!!
Our website has all the schedules and programs on it. Check it out.
I am attaching the announcement for the clinic to this email, spread it
around to folks. It is a great learning
experience and I would like to encourage everyone to attend and lets talk High
Power!!
That’s all I have for now, hold hard and favor center!!!!
